By integrating medical equipment into structured exercise plans, our physical therapists are able to guide you through your journey to recovery.

Our work with Medical Equipment -

Durable Medical Equipment (DME) is medical equipment used in the home and community and to assist children with activities of daily living. Specialized medical equipment can help improve your child’s function, independence and your peace of mind as a caregiver.

Valley Kids pediatric physical therapists collaborate with Assistive Technology Providers to find the most appropriate equipment for your child and submit for insurance coverage. We will discuss your concerns, assess your child and work together to determine the best options for your family.

Equipment Assessment & Plan

By integrating medical equipment into structured exercise plans, our physical therapists are able to guide you through your child’s journey to recovery. We will not only be there by your side every step of the way, but we value teaching our patients tools they can use beyond the need of physical therapy.

As we teach your child how to use new equipment, we take the time and care to work with parents so they are included in this journey as well. Our team understands the importance for parents to be best equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge of what equipment their child needs, how it will benefit them and what to expect in the future.

The extent of equipment needs for your child will vary based on their current physical situation and the specific needs they poses.

Short-Term:

In some instances, your child may only need the assists of equipment for a short period of time; in which we focus on the rehabilitation of these injuries or surgical recoveries until equipment is no longer needed. Providing the tools and knowledge you can take home with you greatly impacts the time needed to recover. We want you and your child to be successful beyond our therapists help.

Long-Term:

In some cases, your child’s needs may be greater and require a long-term plan. We know how important it is to find the best route when choosing equipment to ensure lifelong comfortability. In the initial steps of long-term equipment needs, our pediatric therapists will work with you and your child in determining what best fits their needs with consideration to their environment and lifestyle. We focus on familiarizing your child with their equipment and are mindful to any changes may need to be made.
